Book Discussion Creative Project

Includes three reading logs and presentation

The goal is to organize spoken words and visual images to help convey the insights and
themes your group explored during your book discussions. You are not summarizing the
books read or providing a book report, but rather presenting a creative collage of voices and
images to communicate some of the significant and interesting themes, information, and new
insights your group members discovered from reading and discussing the memoirs together.

The final presentation should last around ten minutes, and each member of the group will be
graded separately on his/her 2-3 minute contribution to the final presentation. To this end,
each member will upload a typed, one-paragraph summary that details his/her contributions
to the final presentation.
PRESENTATIONS CAN INCLUDE A COMBINATION OF THE FOLLOWING:

Spoken word poetry

Song
Video
Slides
Interactive discussion activity with group members and/or class

SCORING GUIDE where 5=meets or exceeds standard and 0= standard unmet.

Reading logs: 5 points total
Standards: typed, three complete logs uploaded by due date, followed stated guidelines, and
demonstrated engagement with the assignment.
Presentation: 5 points total
Standards: Submitted detailed 1-paragraph reflection of contributions by the due date;
contributions were apparent during the group discussions; presentation was energetic,
engaged, and well-prepared.
