Goal #1 Continued improvement on classroom management skills
Rationale: Classroom management in physical education is absolutely crucial in order to ensure safety and also to promote a positive learning environment. Classroom management will also be very important in high school classes to ensure high engagement and productive learners. Strategies: Set up solid classroom procedures, policies, and routines so students have a clear perception of what is expected out of them. It is equally important to establish solid relationships with the students and emphasize the importance of mutual respect. Smooth transitions will also be crucial for effective classroom management. In addition to these I plan to have my teacher mentor come and observe me and give me feedback. Indicators of Achievement: Fewer behavior issues, high student achievement, involvement, and engagement. Timeline: September 2nd- December 19th (checkpoints with teacher mentor and administrator) Goal #2 Get involved in extracurricular activities Rationale: Further my professional development by getting the full physical education teacher experience by coaching and getting involved with sporting/extracurricular activities. Strategies: Look for opportunities around the school and talk to the athletic director about possible coaching or extra curricular positions. Indicators of Achievement: Being either an assistant coach or coach of a sporting team, intramurals, or involved in score keeping, clothing etc. Timeline: September 2nd-December 19th Goal #3 Establish positive relationships with the students and staff at Picture Butte High School.
