MEMORANDUM
November 10, 2014
Ken Weston
Alec Bahmas
Urgent need for replacing peripheral equipment

The purpose of this memo is to focus on the urgent need of changing peripheral equipment after properly
investing the issue of pain in arm of the employee.
We received lots of complaints of pain in forearm, wrist from many of our valuable employees in the last
three weeks. So, considering it, I seek the advice of the physical therapist. Physical therapist suggest to
use wrist splints and exercises to the employees furthermore recommend to consult an ergonomic expert.
Based on ergonomic analyst suggestion, there is a prompt need to replace our peripheral equipment.
However, replacing the new peripheral equipment on more than 50 computers may cost us a significant
amount of approximately $50,000. In any case, cost-benefit analysis demonstrate that company will be
benefitted more from changing the peripheral equipment now than facing the absenteeism of employee
and in advance cases surgical cost which could result in a loss of roughly $100,000 and more in the long
run to company.

Recommendations:
Based on the above findings and advice from the experts, the accompanying changes need to be
implemented:
Replacing the currently using keyboard with the ergonomic keyboards.
Replacing every mouse with a trackball.
Regular check-up especially wrist and forearm of the employees in every month.
It is our duty to not only look for the company profit, but also to our valuable employee benefit and their
well-being. Therefore, on the basis of experts recommendation, cost-benefit analysis, and the importance
and urgency of the issue, there is an urgent need of replacing the peripheral equipment now.
