Libertad Elementary School conducted an earthquake drill on July 29, 2014 at 3:00 pm. During the drill, when the bell rang, all students and teachers did the DROP procedure which involved dropping to their knees, taking cover under furniture, and protecting their heads. They then quickly and orderly evacuated the classrooms to the school plaza. At the plaza, the students received a short discussion about disaster preparedness and being calm during earthquakes from their teacher. Whenever an earthquake takes a thousands of innocent lives, a shocked world talks of little else. Last July 29, 2014 at 3:00 oclock in the afternoon our school conducted an earthquake drill as preparedness to lessen the impact of disasters like the earthquakes. The pupils were briefed to do the DROP Procedure (duck, cover and hold) once the drill starts which will be signified by the bell ringing. This procedure consists of everyone dropping to their knees, taking cover under a table or desk, protecting their head with arms if not under a table or desk, and face away from windows or mirrors. Consequently, when the bell was rung all students and teachers did the DROP procedure then quickly leave the classrooms in an orderly manner heading towards our escape area which is the school plaza. The teachers ascertained that no student remains in the classroom and leaved the doors open as they were leaving the room. At the plaza, the pupils were given a short discussion about disaster preparedness by Mrs. Sarah A. Pido, a Grade III- Amethyst adviser. She instilled in the minds of the pupils that they should not panic. They should always be calm during disasters like the earthquakes and told them that in an actual earthquake, they should immediately do the DROP Procedure (duck, cover, and hold) until the earth movement stops, and then evacuate the building immediately). After the short discussion, the pupils went back to the classrooms.
