Recap: Simile and Metaphor


Both compare two different things, people, or places
Simile uses like or as
Metaphor does not use like or as
Examples:
Simile: This couch is as soft as cotton.
Metaphor: The snow is a white blanket

Alliteration
Repeating beginning sounds in neighboring words

Examples:
Beautiful Belle blew a balloon.
Seven sisters slept soundly in sand.

Personification
Definition: A comparison that gives human qualities to
an object, animal or ideas.

Examples:
The stars danced in the sky.
The giraffe laughed with her friends.

Hyperbole
Using exaggeration to get a point across

Examples:
I was so hungry I could eat a horse!
My birthday will never come!
