DROP Measure: + Measure 30: Curiosity and initiative + Measure 32: Number sense of quantity and counting + Measure 40: Fine motor skills Materials/Equipment Needed: + Worms + Bins + Soil with food scraps Preparation: * Add soil to bins + Add worms to soil Procedures: Beginning: + Iwill introduce the activity during free play time. + I can let the children know by asking, "Who wants to look for worms?” + {will point out the bins and have them start looking for worms in the soil Middle: * As the children begin to look for worms and find some, | can ask them how they feel and how many they have found. + [will also discuss what type of worms they are and that they eat the food scraps in the soil + Iwill encourage children to work together by having them share the bins and having to possibly look through the bin the same time as other children. + | will support individual children by answering any questions that they have throughout the activity.
