WP #9 Semester Long Detours
Originally, the topic for Roy and my semester long project was to present engineering
within the city of Charlotte. As we started to research our topic, we both found that finding
information about engineering in Charlotte was difficult. Our first idea was too specific and
limited how much we could present. There was a small amount of information about what role
engineering played in Charlotte. Roy and I determined that we may not be able to find enough
research to present this topic for over ten minutes. We also felt that the information may
interesting enough. We felt that we would mostly talk about the city of Charlotte
only within the city. Later we found that students wanted to know more ab't are topic than we
planned. Specifically, we decided to cover the main types of engineerj6g and their impact on the
world. We also felt that we should discuss the salary of the main )fpes of engineering careers.
The salary of engineers seemed to be what our audience wa~rlost interested in bout our topic.
So, originally we were going to present engineering in Charlotte. Now we extended our idea to
present the main types of engineering, the salaries, and the impact these types of engineers have
on the world.
