Dear Media Representative,

We are excited to provide this press kit to introduce you to the NEA Green Coalition.

The NEA Green Coalition was founded in 2010 by the council president, Sam Jones. Sam has
made it his mission to provide the NEA region with the information needed to help them better
understand the reasons we need to take care of our environment.

Through many programs we hope to have the resources that we need to provide the information
to the community and surrounding areas. In addition to reducing our geographical footprint on
the community, we plan to bring families together in a fun and friendly environment where they
can learn and grow together. By doing so we hope to achieve community wide support.

Please take a minute to review the information provided to you in this press kit. I hope you agree
that the NEA Green Coalition is making a difference in the NEA region.

Thank you for your time and interest,

BACKGROUNDER
Founded in 2010, the NEA Green Coalition provides Jonesboro and surrounding areas
with the information necessary to help become more environmentally conscious. President of
the council, Sam Jones, has made it his goal to help the NEA area learn ways to protect our
environment and bring families together while doing it.
The NEA Green Coalition council decided to launch the Rails to Trails program, in
which they create bike paths around the NEA area. In addition to creating bike paths, the NEA
Green Coalition informs the community with ways to help protect our environment and tips on
how to Go Green. By creating bike paths through the Rails to Trails program, we bring
families together by showing them how protecting our environment can result in a fun, healthy
pastime. We want to provide families with the knowledge of how to save your environment and
enjoy yourself while doing so.
The NEA Green Coalition works closely with the community to identify the needs of
particular areas and how to best solve them. Through fundraisers such as the Rails to Trails 5k,
we hope to have the funds needed to not only create bike paths but also to hold seminars on what
being Green means and how it not only helps the environment but also your family. The NEA
Green Coalition is a family friendly group that plans to better the community by being
environmentally conscious while strengthen family ties.

Sam Jones
President
Biography
When Same Jones was young, he never thought about his geographical footprint. Not
thinking about the paper he used, the electricity he had in his home, or the plastic bottles he
drank from having an impact on the environment. Like most others he just assumed everything
would work itself out in the end.
It wasnt until he was in college until he started doing some research on what Going
Green meant. He then realized that every action he does has an impact on the Earth. He knew
at the point that he was going to make it his life mission to help others get the knowledge of why
we need to protect our environment.
Jones has stated, I always knew I wanted to make a change in someones life, little did I
know that I could make a change in thousands of lives. By creating the NEA Green Coalition
he plans to help provide the knowledge to the surrounding areas about why we need to take care
our community.
He not only plans to spread his knowledge of but he also wants to help bring families
together by showing them Going Green can also be fun. That is why he launched the Rails to
Trails program that will create bike paths in Craighead Forest Park and other places surrounding
Jonesboro. Jones ultimate goal is to reduce the geographical footprint from the NEA area. He
looks forward to seeing what the NEA Green Coalition can bring to the NEA area.

FACT SHEET

Recycling a single aluminum can would run a TV for three hours

Burning one gallon of gasoline creates about 19 pounds of carbon dioxide

It takes plastic and aluminum cans 500 years to break down, and organic materials,
cotton, rags and paper only 6 months to break down.

Nearly 80 million Hershey's Kisses are wrapped each day. That's enough recyclable
aluminum foil to cover more than 50 acres of space or 40 football fields.

Every tree provides enough oxygen for three people to breathe.

It takes 75,000 trees to print a Sunday Edition of the New York Times.

Recycling one ton of paper saves 20 trees, 7,000 gallons of water

Every year Americans fill enough garbage trucks to form a line that would stretch from
the earth, halfway to the moon.

Each square mile of ocean is estimated to have 46,000 pieces of plastic floating in it.

Turning down your thermostat by one degree can cut 8% off your fuel bill.

An energy efficient washing machine will use a third less electricity for each wash, which
could save you more than the cost of the appliance.

If every household replaced one roll of regular toilet paper with one recycled postconsumer waste roll, 424,000 trees would be saved.

RAILS TO TRAILS PROGRAM SET TO CREAT BIKE PATHS IN JONESBORO

Rails to Trails 5k to take place October 15
The NEA Green Coalition recently announced plans for the Rails to Trails program. This
program is in place to help create bike paths at Craighead Forest Park and surrounding areas in
the NEA region. The thought behind this program is that by bringing families together through a
healthy, fun way such as riding bikes, we can help educate the community on why we need to
protect our environment. Without a clean environment there would be no chance of having a
safe outdoors experience for the family.
The Rails to Trails 5k will take place October 15 at Craighead Forest Park. All proceeds
from the race will go towards creating bike paths at Craighead Forest Park. The 5k is just the
first fundraiser set to take place in the Rails to Trails program. We plan to host other events to
help raise money to create bike paths for the NEA region.
In addition to the 5k there will be informational speakers to discuss and help inform the
community of what Going Green means and how we can help. By providing the community
with free information we hope that they will be able to do their part in protecting our
environment. We also hope to show the community how creating bike paths can lead to a
happier healthy family environment as well.
Council president Same Jones stated, We want to reduce our geographical footprint as
much as possible and bring families together while doing so.
