A bitumen washer must be used under the GL. washer. @ One bolt or screws should be used on each side of lap (See fig. 2a) Nuts or screw should be tightened lightly at first, and then tightened again when adozen or more sheetshave been laid. At intermediate purlins, it should not be tightened in any attempt to make the sheet rest on the urlins. A cat - ladder or roof board should always be used by men ‘working on the roof for safety of worksmen, roofing sheets and accessories. To calculate number and length of nuts, boltsand washers required at each purlin. It is essential that the entire flat wing of the ridge rests on the sheet. ONE PIECE PLAIN ANGULAR RIDGE : This Ridge permits a small ventilation space between the flat ofthe ridge and the valley of the roofing sheet. Each ridge shouldbe laid with 100mm end laps. ‘The ride should lap the Roofing sheet by ‘minimum of 150 mm. Nozze GALVANISED IRON FIXING ACCESSORIES ‘The satisfactory service of a roof depends to a great extent upon the efficiency of its fixing accessories. Therefore, particular attention should be paid to this. Most roofing Proposition can be accommodated with the range of fixing accessories listed below. Fixing bolts and screws should be a ‘8mmdiameter and require 10mm diameter drilled holes. 1&2) Galvanised Iron hook bolts/cranked hook bolts & nut with G.L Flat washer and bitumen washer, for fitting sheets to angle iron purlins. 3) Galvanised iron crank bolt and nut with Gil. flat washer and bitumen washer for fixing sheets to R.S. joint, R.S. Channel or timber purlins, 4) G.L Bolt forfixing sheets totubular purlins, 5) Galvanised iron coach screw with G.I, flat washer and bitumen washer for fixing sheets to timber purlins. 6) Galvanised iron seam bolt & nut with G.l. flat washers and bitumen washer for fixing ridge, corner piece, ventilator & northlight curvesete. 7) Thebitumen washer is 25 mm in diameter, 3 mm thick with hole to suit 6 mm, 8 mm, and 10 mm fixing 8) TheG.1. flat washer is 25 mm in diameter, 2 mm thick with hole to suit 6 mm, 8 mm, and 10 mm fixing accessories. 9) Galvanised iron special bolt and nut with Gul. flat washer and bitumen washer for use with ZED purlins, In windly regions, itis advisable to use a M.S. Do not use hammer and nail to punch holes in the sheet, as it may crack the sheet # Use only drills 4 After laying each sheet, screw the nuts lightly at first to hold the sheet in place. When a dozen or more sheets have thus been laid, tightenallthe nuts, # Donot screw the bolts oo tightly on the purlins 4 Alwaysuse good quality bitumen washer. 4 Use of power driven tools for cutting drilling is likely to induce hair cracks in sheets. PRECAUTION : The cutting or sawing of Asbestos Cement ‘products should be catried out in the open and notin a confined place, so.as to avoid concentration of dust from the material. This Precaution is recommended as the inhaling of dustin concentration, ‘snotin the interes ofthe preservation of health.
