What is Down Syndrome?

Down syndrome is a disorder


which occurs when the
chromosome 21 has three present
copies.

Trisomy 21 affects your body in


several ways and has several
symptoms.

The disease is found in an average


of 1000 babies per year and is the
most common abnormalities in a
humans chromosomes.

The disease is more prone to occur


as women age.

Diagnosing down syndrome can


occur after birth as well as during

chromosome but during cell division a
nondisjunction occurs.

This results into a third set of


chromosome 21 leading into Down
syndrome or trisomy 21.

day challenges really difficult, they
have their limitations such as mental
and physical needs

Scientists are currently on the way to a


cure and the future looks bright for
those with Down syndrome.

There are lots of symptoms of down


syndrome
Physical : stunted growth, low muscle
tone, flatter head, narrow mouth,
flexible ligaments, large tongue, toe
separation, absent nasal ridge, and

with learning, stuttering and
communications issues, etc
