Recognising that climate change is not a local issue but instead a serious international challenge, Juliana hopes that by attending COP20, she would accrue more knowledge and be in a stronger position to influence those around her to make active changes in their daily lives. A collective effort would be ideal, but every individual effort - no matter how small, still counts towards making a positive step in aiding Mother Earth. Concemed with the varying levels of vulnerability that different communities around the world face, Juliana actively reads on issues relating to climate change and enjoys watching movies with related themes. Juliana is currently reading Geography in National University of Singapore (NUS) and in her final year of undergraduate studies. In her View, being environmentally conscious should not merely be the province of “tree huggers”, “hipsters”, or a passing fad popularised by the privileged in society. Instead, Christ! believes that every individual can affect change within our communities through the power of example and persuasion Christ's long-standing passion for the environment saw her volunteering on organic farms in Japan and North America during her student days at Columbia University. These experiences have enabled Christl to see how sustainable agricultural systems and food consumption habits can play a key role in tackling climate change. As a youth delegate at the UNFCCC COP20, Christ! is excited about meeting youths with a similar passion for the environment and exchanging views on how best to implement sustainable global environmental practices. She hopes to gain further insights from COP20 on influencing environmental practices in Singapore and beyond. Ultimately, Christ! would like to see market forces driving constructive change, with corporations actively championing the environmental cause in a commercially viable manner. Zen is an educator who strongly believes that every individual has a stake and responsibility to help conserve the environment and that only a concerted effort from. all facets of the global society can help solve the climate change problem. He hates the argument that one's action alone cannot make an impact as justification of unsustainable behavior. He believes that youths have a great role to play in advocating pro-environmental initiatives as well as to inform and empower consumers and steer the global demand towards environmentally sustainable products Besides teaching Social Studies in a Singapore school, Zen is also active in the NGO scene, championing social and environmental issues in the region. He recently co-led an expedition team to Riau, Indonesia to study the causes and impacts of plantation fires and haze. In his free time he enjoys playing sports and reading. a tOviro, e2!2l s © a5uan™ Paesue™ young ntuc g
