Koba is a conventional antagonist because he was the

bad guy, going against his leader Ceaser. He rebelled
against his fellow apes and fought out of his own self
worth. A example of this is when he lies about humans
are going to attack so he goes behind Ceasers back and
causes war. This suggests he wants to be in control.

Malcolm is a conventional protagonist because he was loyal to

those he was helping and didnt go behind anyone's backs. He
only fought when he had to. A example of this is when he helped
Ceaser to kill Koba. This suggests he wants to help.
