The King, the Witch and the Priest

Centuries ago, there was a kingdom named Daha. The kindom was populous one and its people
very prosperous. Daha was ruled by a king by the name of Erlangga who was renowned for his
upright character and wisdom.
As this same story goes, there was a village by the name of Girah in the Kingdom of Daha. In
this village, there was a witch live, named Calon Arang. Calon Arang was a widow's black magic
ruler. She often destroys the crops of farmers and causes the arrival of the disease. She had a
daughter named Ratna Manggali. Although Ratna was beautiful, there was no one man wanted to
be her husband because they were afraid to her mother. Because of the difficulties faced of her
dughter, Calon Arang became angry and she wanted to revenge by abducting young girls. Then
she brought the girls to the temple to be sacrificed to goddess Durga. At the next day, major
flood hit the village and there are many people died. Disease would appear.
Living at that same time and in the same kingdom was a priest by the name of Empu Brabadah.
He was a virtuous man and very pious too. He was a friendly man. He always helps those in need
and never refused. Therefor everyone in the village said that he almost like a God.
King Erlangga knows the bad news that his kingdom was in danger. Then, he asked for a help to
his adviser, Empu Baradah to overcome this problem. Empu Brabadah had solution. He sent his
students, Empu Bahula to married with Ratna Manggali. Both are married with a massive feast
that lasted seven days and seven nights. After that, the village was back to normal circumstances.
Calon Arang had a book of magic sciences. One day, this book had been found by Empu Bahula
and gave it to Empu Brabadah. When Calon Arang knew that her book was stolen, she got angry
and decided to against Empu Brabadah. Without Dewi Durgas help, Calon Arang lost. Since his
lost, the village became safe from the threat of Calon Arangs black magic.
The part that I like is when the witch can be defeated and re-secure peaceful kingdom.
