Anti-Hero??
In the novel Dare Me Beth is neither the Anti-hero nor the protagonist of the novel. Both of
those accolades in my opinion are giving to our narrator Addy. My opinion being based of reasoning that
in Richard III we are giving insight to the protagonists state of mind and their thoughts. In Dare Me we
are given neither in regards to Beth; however, with Addy we are given all our information through her
perspective and also some of her personal thoughts on certain matters. For example from Dare Me
when the truth of Beth and Addys falling out is revealed to us at first Addy seems distraught of her
actions; then later in the book when RiRi mentions the other girls have always been scared of her
because she actually stood up to Beth, Addy acts with an understated knowledge of this fact. My final
reason being the end of the book Addy comes into the next year as the captain of the cheer squad,
something she only let the reader know she truly wanted.
