Informal Writing 3
College, a higher level of education, also a fresh start for everyone is simply a place to find and
achieve higher learning. In many circumstances college is a kids first time on their own; however, for me
between wrestling and my parents both being at work before six in the morning, I became independent
early on. In English 111 I set high expectations for myself. After establishing these goals I realize now I
must actually study to achieve my goals.
Since week one I felt the structure of my writing has improved dramatically. While this may be
true I still need to actually read the assigned works so that I can grasp and retain the information being
taught. The class as a whole works well for the majority to understanding; however, some students
including myself would benefit greatly from visual examples.
Writing, a skill we are all taught from an early age used to express ourselves. For me I dreaded
the subject until ninth grade when I took a history class with a teacher who changed my perspective of
writing forever. This teacher saw my potential in writing and forced me to write all the time, in doing so I
saw my own potential to simply throw my ideas onto paper and somehow convey a topic. Since ninth
grade writing or at least the crude structure of writing has come much more naturally.
If anything these first weeks of college have showed the faults in my writing. By seeing the
short-comings in writing I can focus on reestablishing them. The easiest way for me to do this is to slow

down, and think about what I am writing. Also I have learned in the past seven weeks to just simply
proof read my works after writing them.
