Codes of practice and regulations

The codes of practice is a major thing to consider when creating a media product in my case
a short single camera drama which lasts for around 3-4 minutes. The first thing I need to
consider in this sector would be clearances, when saying this I mean making sure I am
allowed to shoot in certain areas. Most of the areas I have chosen to shoot in are locations
where I do not need clearance because they are either public or I attend one of the
locations. There is one location where we need permission to shoot as we are not members
of their premises, we have gained permission to this location and will be allowed access to
shoot there. After clearances there is also legal laws we need to think about. By this I mean
making sure I use my own ideas and creations rather than someone elses. I have to be
aware of copyright laws when using certain things such as audio. Because I am doing this
short single camera drama for educational purposes I will not need clearances on music and
audio because the video will not be
viewed online.

Health and safety is another thing we need to make sure we take into consideration. We
need to make sure all the contributors to the drama are safe and all times when shooting in
the different locations. To help us do this we have completed risk assessment forms that
allow us to see what hazards we may come across when shooting the single camera drama.
We have created a risk assessment document for each location we are shooting we have
done this so again we can in more detail see what hazards we may come across and how to
deal with them. We will not need to pay out insurance to the actors as we have completed
actor release forms which is a contract and risk assessment forms which shows all the
hazards which could happen some probable and some which will never happen.
We have to follow many guidelines for our single camera drama as our clients are the BBC
and have given us a slot before the 9pm watershed meaning we cannot include explicit
material which may not be suitable for some viewers before 9pm. In our single camera
drama we have touched upon a subject the subject of death, because we have a time slot
before the 9pm watershed we have devised our single camera drama so it implies death but
does not show it, we are allowed to do this as no explicit content of murder of death is
shown.
