Students will:

application of science in responsible ways.
be introduced to the scientific method and its importance
go over the steps involved and learn the proper order
critical thinking activity -application to real life scenarios
worksheet
science experiment journal
discussion
poster
whiteboard and markers
science experiment supplies (hydrogen peroxide, dish soap, yeast,
food coloring, lab coats, goggles, gloves, measuring flasks)
What is the scientific method? (10 minutes)
-Explain why it's important
-Present poster with the five steps of scientific method
-Go over each step and explain the processes
-Present an idea (experiment) and as a group identify each step -->come up
with the hypothesis, theory, predictions, etc.
Activity (15 minutes)
-Break off into pre-picked groups
-Each group assigned one scenario off work sheet
-Re-gather class, one person from each group will share their hypothesis
and experiment to solve the presented problem
-Discussion of activity - were the hypothesis' well thought out?
Numbers Activity -to summarize and review the scientific method and the
steps in proper order
Fun experiment to close!
