Assessment Plan

Assessment Plan Table: Probability and Statistics

Lesson Objectives

Lesson Objectives:
Students will be able
to find the area under
the normal curve
given a z-score
Students should be
able to find the area
under the normal
curve given a z-score
with an 85% accuracy
after completing the
daily grade.

Assessments
PreAssessment :
Worksheet
During
Assessment:
Observation
Post
Assessment:
Daily Grade

Format of Formative
Assessments
Pre: A worksheet with
four questions on
normal distribution
and z-score to see
what students already
know
During: Observation
and use of practice
problems

Accommodations
I do not have any students that are on
accommodations. I will have the
definition and an example of a range
and standard deviation on the
Promethean Board. I will vocally say
what I am writing or what is on the
board. This will accommodate all types
of learners. I will give time between
each step before moving on to make
sure the students understand the
content.

Post: Daily Grade with

four questions to see
if they are able to find
the area under the
curve given a z-score
on a normal curve

Description:
Pre-Assessment:
For the pre-assessment, I had my students complete a worksheet to let me see what information they
knew and what information I needed to either refresh their memory on or teach them. This was scored
either correct or wrong. Since there were four questions, the assignment was out of four points.
During Assessment:
For the during-assessment, I observed my students working on problems. Before I moved on to the next
definition or problem, I made sure I answered all questions the students had about that part of the
lesson. I made sure when the students were working on problems to give them several minutes
between each problem. I walked around answering all questions and checking the students work.
Post Assessment:
For the post-assessment, I had my students do a Daily Grade. A Daily Grade is a four-question short
worksheet to make sure they understood the lesson. The Daily Grade is based off of the homework
from the night before. Students are able to work problems at home, and when they come to class the
next day they get a Daily Grade. This is to see if I need to clear up any confusion on any step of the
lesson before moving on to the next lesson.

Below are my Pre-Assessment and Post-Assessment with the answers.

Pre-Assessment
1. What is a z-score?

2. What is a normal distribution?

3. What is the mean of a standard normal distribution?

4. Draw two normal curves that have the same mean but different standard deviations.

Answers:
1. Represents the number of standard deviations a given value falls from the mean or

2. A continuous probability distribution for a random variable x, or the mean, median and mode
are equal: symmetric about the mean.
3. The mean of a standard normal distribution is 0.
4. Draw two bell curves with same mean but different deviations (answers will vary).

Daily Grade
11/25/14

1. How much data is to the left of z = .56?

2. How much data is between z=0.95 and z=1.84?

3. How much data is to the right of z = -2.02?

4. How much data is between z = 2.95 and z = -1.57?

Answers:
