Audience is more

important to show
than originally Jimmy

Fallon and David

Letterman do show
without audience

No audience made it
awkward and eerie,
had to improvise for
sounds and laughter
Idea that no in
person
communication is
needed

I believe talk shows

completely rely on their
audience to be successful.
The whole idea of the
show if for the host to
communicate with the
audience and get a
response out of them,
without the response
there's no show. I believe
the author was using the
talk show as a parallel for
human communications vs
technological
communications and how
its just not the same. I
don't believe technological
interactions will ever be
better than personal
interactions; its just not
the same and one can't
have the same experience.
You will always have the
"you had to be there
statement".

Hmm, that's a pretty

interesting parallel. I never
assumed she was applying
it to a larger topic. I liked
your idea that a real
audience creates a unique
experience. There's not
much I can say against you
except that there are also
some big benefits to not
using a real life crowd:
Faster comedy, no
prolonged clapping, things
always go exactly as
planned. But other then
that I agree completely.
