Sticker Program

Nicky Alleyne

#1

Undesirable Behavior Targeted

The undesirable behavior that will be targeted is calling out in the classroom. Students will call
out in class to participate in answering questions. Being disruptive interferes with the teachers
ability to instruct the class, students will lose focus causing a decrease in grades, limiting the
teachers ability, and amount of time is wasted redirecting the student behavior. Behaviors lead
to tension between the students, and causing the teacher to lose control of the class.
Desired Behavior Targeted:
During instruction periods, the students will raise their hands 4 of 5 times to participate
appropriately for 3 of 4 consecutive sessions in 45 minute intervals.
Types of positive reinforcements-Reinforced-when & how?
1. Immediate R + tokens: The sticker program allows the students to receive a sticker when
the targeted behavior is performed. The sicker will be placed on their charts each time a
student raises their hands to participate, and is appropriate. The sticker must be given
immediately after the behavior is performed and this will help enhance control in the
classroom.
2. Delayed R+: If the targeted behavior is not performed the teacher will ignore the behavior
and continue teaching the class.
3. Overall R+: When the goal is met the class will receive their sticker chart and a certificate
for improvement.
4. If the undesirable behavior is observed the teacher will ignore the behavior. If the
positive behavior is demonstrated the teacher will place a sticker on the chart that will be
placed on her desk without interrupting the class.
Interactive Learning Activity
TEKS 115.22 Health Education, 6th Grade
(10) Personal/Interpersonal skills: The student describes healthy and respectful ways to
communicate, consideration and respect for self, family, friends and others.

Teach the desired behavior:

The teacher will state the classroom policy to the students at the beginning of the class. The
students will be allowed to ask questions if they need clarity. Also, the students will receive a
copy of the policy. The teacher will model hand raising. The students will recite the classroom
policy. The teacher will inform students if hand raising is observed for participation and its
appropriate they will receive a sticker on their chart. This will be a positive reinforcement.
Teach the Plan:
The teacher will begin teaching the writing assignment by asking the students who started the
journaling assignment. If a student calls out the answer the teacher will ignore the student and
repeat the question. If the students raise their hands the teacher will call on a student to answer
the question. If the student demonstrates the desired behavior a sticker will be placed in their
chart. On Fridays the students will receive a certificate for following the desired behavior.
Provide options:
The plan will be utilized for the classes that exhibits disruptive behaviors (calling out). This will
be the six period class English & Arts.
Demonstrate all Necessary Item:
The teacher will utilize the classroom policy, stickers for the behavior charts and colorful
certificates for showing improvement.
