Child Welfare Reform and Family Support Association is a non profit, full contact grass
roots, social justice, and community organizing organization, dedicated to child welfare
reform and supporting child welfare involved families and those as risk of child welfare
involvement.
Studies show that long term(MIT Study), children overall do better at home, with
compassionate supportive services and everything we seek to do is based off this ideal.
We are non patriarchal consensus based and a bottom up organization.
GENERAL/EMERGENCY
ASSISTANCE

Whether its paying for the lights to be turned back on,

or helping with move in assistance for finding housing,
we seek to offer concrete funding and simple supports
to help prevent removal of children or help facilitate a
speedier family reunification process.

IMPROVING FOSTER CARE/CHILD

WELFARE SYSTEM
We seek to improve the foster system by working to
lessen the amount of children entering the system and
by advocating for more family preservation dollars and
innovative programs like family treatment

COMMUNITY ORGANIZING AND

ADVOCACY
These are key components of our work. Organziing
families and allies where ever they are, to include
online, at home, DSHS/CPS offices, etc. We seek to
advocate with our equals at rountables, conferences,
and working groups like CWAC and seek to partner with

We plan on organizing parent support groiups and

planning family friendly events with dreams of a family
reunification camp.t.

HOSTING OF COMMUNITY EVENTS

These could be documentary movies and discussions,
or congerences and panel events, we seek to help tell
the stories of child welfare involved families and raise
awareness of needed improvements and look for
partners and potential members, volunteers and board
members.

We will be screening Tough Love, a documentary in the March of 2015

at the Blue Mouse Theatre in Tacoma Washington. This will be our first
event and will include a silent auction, light snacks and refreshments, a
Q & A session with the director and one of the parents from the film.
Ticket proceeds will go to fund the efforts of Child Welfare Reform and
