December Newsletter

Food Drive
Students are asked to bring non-perishable items to donate to the Salvation Army. The
Salvation Army Food Drive ends on December 12th.

Winter Sing-Along
On December 18th at 10:15 am there will be a holiday sing-along in the new gym.

Science
In science, students have been exploring water in the environment. Students will continue to
investigate, through experimentation, the characteristics of water and the stages of the water
cycle. Students will identify sources of water in the natural and built environment as well as
identify the three states of water in the environment, giving examples of each.

Social Studies
At home, parents and/or guardians will work with students to prepare an oral presentation.
Students will gather and organize information on some present traditions and celebrations
within their family and the community to which they belong. Students will also identify countries
of personal or familial significance, in addition to describing their families.

Language
This month, students will recite a poem with appropriate expression, phrasing and intonation.
Students will be assessed primarily on their ability to speak with a smooth pace, appropriate
intonation, and accurate pronunciation. In writing, students have been using a word bank and a
sequence of images to compose stories with a partner.
