Embroidery
An ancient craft that reached the Philippines

( through ancient Chinese and Indian connections ) even

before the arrival of the Spaniards.


It is a method of decorating a cloth background by the
needlework .
One Filipino tradition wherein Filipino olden times , It is
said ,knew their worth by the way they pushed the
needles and thread and sometimes, fine wire, with their
fingers.

took place of geography, history, and agriculture in


the womens curriculum in the country .

June 1912 the School of Household Industries

opened in Manila and was first established in


Intramuros and later in Herran, Sta. Ana.
They gave academic training to certain women of

each province as would make them fit to return to


their home upon graduation and start industrial
centers.

Asilo de Molo in Iloilo by the 1920s became

noted for its delicate embroidered vestments with
