Goal(s): The students will identify character conflict in a text by reading James and the
Giant Peach

Objective(s):
TLW define the four different types of character conflict found in text.
TLW make a list of the conflict that they notice the main character experiencing.
TLW explain in their own words the conflict that is found
TEKS: 110.11 5.6A Reading/Comprehension of Literary Text/Theme and Genre.
Students analyze, make inferences and draw conclusions about theme and genre in
different cultural, historical, and contemporary contexts and provide evidence from the
text to support their understanding. Students are expected to:

Instructional Procedures
Focusing Event: Teaching will activate prior knowledge by opening a discussion
with students on defining what the term conflict means to them. Students will share
responses amongst classmates. Teacher will use this open discussion to begin
presentation
Teaching/ Learning Procedures: Teacher will introduce Types of Conflict
found in text when reading. Teacher will go over power point presentation and share
various examples as it relates to the conflicts being defined. Teacher will call on students
during instruction to share an examples.
