December 2014
We have now completed the Rainforest Unit. We really enjoyed the field trip at the Animal
Refugio. It provided us with the opportunity to see the animals we were researching and reading
about. We have also been using whole brain instruction to learn grammar while writing. Whole
brain instruction creates an opportunity for students to apply what they learned through visual,
kinesthetic, verbal, and auditory expression. Please ask your child to read a sentence and act out
the capital, commas, period, question mark, quotation marks, and/or exclamation mark. It has been
very effective, as I am noticing the implementation of these grammar concepts in their writing.
Our class is also planning a fancy party. Invitations are coming soon. As always, feel free to
contact me with questions or concerns and never hesitate to come into our classroom.
Respectfully Yours,
Ms. Sara

Help At Home
Ask your child to email or write a letter to a family member. Try to encourage him/her to use
phonics and creative spelling while writing.

students will buy items with pretend money. They are excited about this unit!

100 day celebration! We have been in school for 63 days and are now 30 days away
