Curriculum Plan

Title of Lesson: Jungle Animal Mask

Targeted Domain: Small Motor

Name: Pauline Franklin

Age of Child (ren): 3-5

Goal: To teach children about jungle animals

Objective: Children will create a jungle animal mask. Children will paint the back side of a
paper plate the color of the animal they wish to represent. Children will paint on eyes, and
markings that are particular to their animal, including nose and ear cut-outs to glue on their
animal face
Transition Plan: Teacher will sing I went to the animal fair with children

Procedure: Children will paint the back side of a paper plate the color of the animal they
wish to represent, when the paint has dried, children will paint on eyes and any other marks
that are particular to their animal, teacher will give children nose and ear cut-outs to glue
on their animal face, tape a large craft stick on the back of the face to use as a mask handle.

Advanced Preparation: Teacher will lay out paper plates, paint, paint brushes, cup of
water, paper towels, glue, tape, stick and eyes/ears cut-outs to be available for each child

List Materials: paper plates, paint, paint brush, nose/ears cut-outs, tape, glue, large craft
stick, cup of water, and paper towels

Developmental Benefits: creatively, social and small motor

Future Plans: Children will act out mask in dramatic play
