Weekly Volunteer Opportunities
Adult Art Classes: ACT offers a number of opportunities just for
adults! Check out the diverse options offered and volunteer with one that fits your interest! ACTion Drummers 1 & 2: Each Monday from 5:15-6:15 and from 6:30-7:30 pm this performing drum troupe rehearses at ACT. Sign up to help out with this wonderful group of musicians for their rehearsals and community performances (Jan. 12-March 23). **Tuesday Visual Art Classes: Tuesday from 5:15-6:15 pm at ACT students will participate in a 10 week Paper Mache Sculpture class (Jan. 13-March 24). Tuesday Non-Visual Art Classes: Tuesdays from 6:307:30pm at ACT students will participate in a 10 week Dance & Choreography class (Jan. 13-March 24). Choir: On Thursdays from 11:30-12:10 and from 12:301:30 pm, students in the ACTion choir rehearse at Kuyper College. Students come from a variety of schools and community locations and enjoy singing in this collaborative environment and perform throughout the community (Jan. 8-May 14). Arts and Mentoring: ACT a holds specialized art classes for GRPS transition students (18-26 yrs) from Learning from the Masters to Hip-Hop and from Dance to Watercolor Painting. Wednesdays and Fridays from 9:30-11:30am (Jan.-May). One-Time Volunteer Opportunities
Open Studios at ACT: Individuals are invited to come to ACT for an evening of art-making! They will have a plethora of art materials to choose from and we are looking for volunteers to help in the creative process. Youth Open Studio Nights: (For students 5-15 years): Thursdays from 6:00-8:00 pmJanuary 29, April 16 (special Drumming night), & June 18 Adult Open Studio Nights: (For students 16+): Fridays from 6:30-8:30 pmFebruary 13 **Education Day at the GRAM: In conjunction with ACTion Art (ACTs art competition for adults with disabilities, taking place at the GRAM), ACT will be hosting special education classrooms during a day at the GRAM. These classrooms will be able to tour the exhibit and create their artwork of their own. Volunteers are needed to help with the art activities. Friday, March 6 from 9:00-3:00 pm. ACTs Early Childhood Nights at the Children's Museum: Preschool students and their families have the opportunity to visit the Childrens Museum and participate in art activities through ACT. Volunteers are needed to help with the different art areas. Wednesday, March 18 from 6:00-8:00 PM & Wednesday, March 25 from 5:30-7:30 PM **CELEBRATE! Come and help at ACTs 4th annual Celebrate! Community Day. On this day, The Grand Rapids Ballet, Cook Arts Center, and the Girls Chorale Academy get together for a day of art and fun, providing attendees with art activities and performances. Come paint faces, and help with arts and crafts activities. Saturday, March 28 **Festival Day 2015! Come for a day of fun and art at Lincoln Campus on Friday, May 8, 2015 with over 1,200 kids, teachers, artists, volunteers and community partners! Volunteers are needed from 9:00-2:00pm on Festival Day (May 2) and on May 1 from 2:30-7:00pm for set-up.
