Goal:
Introduce children to graphing
Objective:
Children will learn to use graphing by sorting jelly-beans by color
Transition Plan
Discuss the concept of graphing with children, and read the book Tally
O Malley
Procedure
Show the child the colors of the jellybeans, the numbers on the graph,
and the colors on the graph.
Ask the child to take one jellybean and match it with the color on the
graph.
When he finishes ask him which one has the most and the least.
Advanced Preparation:
Pre-draw the graph with the numbers 1 through 10 on the side of the
paper, and four colors on the bottom of the graph.
Place the jellybeans in the plate.
List Materials:
Jellybeans, paper, black marker, ruler, a plate.
Developmental Benefits:
The child will develops cognitive skill while thinking on matching the
colors
Fine motor skill is strengthed when children take the jellybean and place it
On the graph

Practice graphing with different concepts.
