Dear Mr. Rodriguez,

With summer ending, what better way to ease children back into the classroom than bringing an
exciting experience to their school? City Years First Annual Back to School Affair aims to do
just that. This event will also serve as a medium to raise school supplies for students in need; we
are asking for donations as admission.
This years circus theme will utilize teachers and corps members to serve as the acts, and City
Years new Chief Executive Officer Sean Holleran, will serve as ring master. This will aid in
students becoming familiar with their instructors, and further ease the transition back into the
classroom.
Considering your heavy involvement with community outreach, I believe that you are the best
person to handle this story. We not only want children to come out and enjoy this day, but we
also want to ensure that every child possesses the materials necessary to be successful. Aware of
the success your work has provided for United Way, Court Appointed Special Advocates and
Our Lady of the Lake Hospital. I can only hope to attain the same for this event.
As the inaugural event, we are seeking success, which prompted me to offer you this story first.
It is evident that you are concerned with the well-being of the community, and this event caters
to the community, our community. I can provide additional information and/or resources as they
are needed. It would be preferable to have a response by Sept. 23, in order to guarantee adequate
preparations.
I will call on Thursday at 5 p.m. to further discuss the event. I would like to thank you for taking
the time to consider covering this event, and I look forward to speaking with you later this week.
Best,
Willshika Carter
