Shrinking Woman
In this poetry slam, I believe that she was talking about the role of society today and
how it forces women to starve themselves. They believe that if they are not skinny,
then they are not beautiful or accepted. Also in this poem she makes it clear that she
does not think guys have to worry about this. Her tone of voice is very powerful and
she portrays a message that makes it obvious that she is passionate about this. I
found it interesting that she does not rhyme too often and is still able to grab the
listeners attention and send a very thought-provoking message.

The delivery of this poem was very powerful. The poet never missed a beat and
continued to keep the listeners attention by repeating the numbers. He conveys a
message that shows the importance of alcohol awareness and the effects it can place
on a family.
The Rape Poem
The staggered entrances of the poem grabbed the listeners attention. The way they
kept referring back to the rape poem also was a way to build a sense of attention
and made the poem very powerful. Many women are affected by this problem and I
feel that the poets did a great job of conveying a message that represents this issue.
