Teaching assistant

CHOICE appreciates people who can assist in the classroom. With the
permission of management, you can assist with teaching in the classes.

Your role may involve:

-helping the teacher set up activities.
-being part of activity demonstrations so that students understand the
activities.
-playing a role in conversations with the teacher.
-monitoring students so that they are following the classroom activities.
-monitoring students' written work.

Be aware that sometimes you may be idle in the classroom. Also, it is the role
of the teacher to decide on the nature of the lesson, unless otherwise agreed.

Reprimanding the children in cases of bad behaviour is only to be done by the

Khmer staff at CHOICE.

English Teacher

We welcome volunteer teachers at CHOICE to teach some of our many eager

English learners. The teacher will teach a preset cirriculum. Plenty of teaching
resources are available.

Being a teacher is strictly only open to people with a CELTA or equivalent

teaching English as a foreign language qualification, or higher qualification.
Online TEFL courses do not count unless they include substantial observed
teaching practice.

To become a teacher at CHOICE, you have to:

complete a one-hour induction session to introduce you to our courses.

observe two of our one-hour lessons.

Because of the training involved, teaching at CHOICE requires you to commit to

a minimum amount of time here. Please talk to the CHOICE staff to arrange
this.
