1.2. This is not a quiz, ask student to interact with me while reading
1.3. Predict what the book is going to be about while looking at the front cover and
hearing the title.
1.4. Why do you think they need rain to come?
1.5. Page 2: What does the author mean when she says mamma has parched plants?
Hmm that is a tricky word. Lets find out together.
1.6. Page 4: Why do we think that a lot of people are not outside? Clouds coming
in We might have rain! They really need the rain to help their plants grow and
to cool off.
1.7. Page 6: Phonograph that is a funny word. How can we use the picture to help
us know what that word means? What strategy would you use? I might choose
to reread and then look at the picture. Further, I would ask myself, does this make
sense?
1.8. Page 8: I really enjoy how this author uses creative words to describe the way J
feels or is acting. Like here when the author says J is slick with sweat. It must be
really hot outside. I really hope it rains

1.9. Page 10: Here is another interesting word. Murmurs. How could we figure out
what that word means? Would it help you to listen to the way I quote mamma?

it seemed to brighten up the entire neighborhoods day!
