Draw a mini Surf board and
apply an ink wash over it then
use to test out media and
compositions for your final
surf boards design
Why? To develop own
interpretation and design of a
surf board using key skills
taught.

Intro
Students choose an exemplar
piece from display and write
down why this is their
favourite. How would they use
the design to support their
own creativity? Review
exemplar final outcomes.
Discuss levels and how these
were achieved.
Complete a test page of
experimentation using
coloured inks. Teacher
demonstration on how to use
inks with water.
Draw outlines of mini surf
board and apply ink wash that
worked best from exemplar
test. Once dry use as a base
to inform planning for the
final design. Experiment with
media, scale and overall
design.
Review what went well and
ensure a clear idea is in place
for the final surf board
design
