1. Give a description of deism.

- The belief that a god exists, but he is most likely not personal, and is defin
etly detached from the affairs of his creation; he is essentially the "watchmake
r" that created the world then let it go.

- as a machine that functions propery, "whatever is is right" - Pope

- the "clockmaker" who created the universe then let it go its own way

- similar: both gods created the universe, both gods currently exist
- different: the Christian god is personable while the deist god is frequently i
dentified as a sort of intellectual force; further the Christian god is actively
involved in his creation and the deist god is not, he is a clockmaker that let
the clocks do its own thing.

- according to deists, we can know about god by looking at his "clock"; the thin
gs he has created
6. My thoughts
- Moralistic therapeutic deism is prolific in teenage culture, especially those
who would identify themselves as Christians are actually deists who believe that
god exists as a kind of safety net for life's trash, who is not necessarily inv
olved in it at the same time.
