Inquiry Question
Do people who are blind from birth dream in visuals or in all black?

This question has bothered me for a while because everyone just seems to
overlook it due to the realization that they are already deprived of sight. I guess it is
simply an indication that we only see blindness as a physical disadvantage, yet I see it as
emotional and mental as well due to their lack of certain experiences. Now I have no idea
if the people do drink in visuals or not but if they do not then they would be deprived of
such an amazing experience: the experience of waking up with a smile on your face due
to the wonderful dream that occurred during those hours of deep REM sleep. Now
dreams are overlooked as a privilege because sleep study is just starting to develop. We
still have no true idea what happens through all phases of sleep.

If they do not see visuals in their sleep, do they simply hear voices?

If the answer to this question results in the fact that they only hear voices and
noise then we would have to realize that their dreams could technically be a form of
schizophrenia. This would be a terrifying conclusion and I hope it is not true, but

personally seeing nothing and hearing voices and noise would lead me to some type of
craziness.
Some resources that would be very helpful would be online forums made by
family members due to obvious reasons and simply try to get in contact with some of
these people to ask nonintrusive questions. With these resources I would not only be
content with the findings due to their genuine background but also I hope to gain a better
sense of humility as simple as I am able to see. I feel like I could not only use this
assignment to further my understanding of others but also to just realize the privileges I
take for granted.
