Dear Sir, Madam:
It is with great pleasure that I write this letter of reference on behalf of Mr. Josh
Schulhoff. Eight years ago, Josh served as my youngest daughters French teacher at
Deep Run High School. In the summer of 2012, he led a student trip to Europe taking my
eldest daughter. My youngest loved French class and took part in the French club and
worked as his assistant/intern one year. It was through this interaction that we learned of
Joshs background and interest in medicine. Having just opened a medical practice of our
own, we needed an assistant in the office. At our youngest daughters urging, we
contacted Josh about working a few hours at the medical office. He began working with
us in 2007.
Joshs intention was to work only a few hours a week though it was not long before he
was working in the office at all hours every day after school, over breaks, and on the
weekends. Our family has a history of entrepreneurial ventures and we soon realized that
Joshs dedication was unparalleled by any employee we have had. Josh took on every
task he possibly could. I knew, no matter the task, I could count on him to get the job
done and done right. In the beginning, his greatest strength was his ability to research
practically anything and then apply what he had learned. He learned about medical billing
and coding as well as health information privacy and consequently streamlined our
paperwork and patient procedures, redesigned our logo, and created our advertisements
for local circulars, direct mailings, and local establishments. Josh became an integral part
of our office. He was soon a partner and no longer an employee. It was at this point that
Josh was afforded the title of Chief Operations Officer.
Overseeing the office, Josh played a critical role in the supervision of our clinic and
assumed further duties involving staff relations and patient accounts. He handled both
staff issues and patient matters in a professional manner. We worked together
troubleshooting different scenarios that arose among different accounts and insurance
matters. When we were faced with any issue in the office, Josh was quick to come up
with possible solutions.
Five years later, our office had to close in the summer of 2012; however, Josh continues
to maintain patient chart requests and email communications. This closure was due to
some very outstanding circumstances with our medical director that persisted over some
time. Suffice to say that the working environment was quite challenging over the years
which resulted in much turnover with the nurses and an overall stressful environment.
Josh soldiered on making great strides with the staff and reassuring patients. He rewrote
policies and established new programs to increase staff morale and affect the overall
workload. His determination and perseverance served as a model for all in the office.

When faced with less than constructive feedback from the medical director, Josh excelled
at meeting his demands while managing to maintain a professional relationship where no
one else could.
After having seen Joshs vast range of abilities and propensity for problem solving, I
wholeheartedly believe that he will succeed in whatever he endeavors to accomplish.
Josh has done more than help me run a Doctors office, he has earned my trust and
respect. I have no doubt that Josh has as much to offer your program as he did to my
office. He has talked about his passions concerning the educational system and I know
that he will be making a difference somewhere in the years to come. Josh has shown
nothing but great things throughout his career in retail management as well as prove
himself as an award winning classroom teacher and effective administrative aide while
simultaneously making strides in our office. I know that Josh would be an asset to your
institution.
