Philosophy is huge.

First of all philosophy is the study of general and fundamental problems, such as those
connected with reality, existence, knowledge, values, reason, mind, and language.
Philosophy is distinguished from other ways of addressing such problems by its critical,
generally systematic approach and its reliance on rational argument. Philosophy can refer
to the most basic beliefs, concepts, and attitudes of an individual or group. It is aimed to
make a person/man a full man-cultured, refined and well-rounded. It provides us the
ability to synthesize, criticize, systematize, and evaluate a variety and huge mass of
knowledge. Philosophy can help us to make good decisions. Philosophy can help improve
critical thinking skills. Most fields of study, such as physics, history, and economics, are
mainly about providing us with knowledge of some sort. However, some fields of study are
more practical, such as computer science, and they are mainly about providing us with
skills. Practical fields are supposed to help improve our abilities, so that we can do
something with the use of them. Philosophy is not necessarily a primarily skill-oriented
field of study, but it is the specialized field of study for critical thinking, and it can help us
improve our critical thinking skills. By studying philosophy, people can clarify what they
believe, and they can be stimulated to think about ultimate questions. Example of these are
the questions like Did I have any existence before I was born? , Is there life after
death? How do words come to have meaning? , What is happiness? Can we hope to
attain it? Is it what matters most in life? Can bad people be truly happy? . By studying
philosophy, people can clarify what they believe, and they can be stimulated to think about

So what is the significance of philosophy in my course? Being a marketing major we should
know the nature/culture of our clients. It can be added that philosophy can be used to help
convince people that you are right. Example is selling a product to client. You should know
how to convince him or her to buy your product/s. Also philosophy can help us on how to
communicate right to our clients and also to gain their trust.
