Lesson Plan Reflection

I created this lesson plan for teachers who are teaching their students about
the alphabet. It is for an early childhood setting like preschool or kindergarten. A
lesson plan is what a teacher uses to figure out what she will teach and what
activities to include. In my lesson plan, the teacher teaches the sound of the letters
in the alphabet by using animals and has the students create a alphabet book. It is
helpful because it organizes the teachers plans and allows her to focus on the
activity more than constantly thinking about what shes going to do next. It is
required so the rest of the staff in the school can see where the teacher is and how
far the students are in their studies. It also allows the teacher to look back at a
lesson plan and fix it to make it more efficient.
I completed this assignment by going online to a website that had premade
lesson plans. I found the Animal Alphabet lesson plan and fixed it according to
common core standards and what I thought was appropriate for a kindergarten age
student. I learned that making a lesson plan requires thought and practice. It makes
me think further in depth about what I will be teaching and how it will affect the
students. This is helpful for my future as a teacher because I am able to get the
experience of writing a lesson plan before I actually go to teach. I am able to get
more practice in making these lessons, which will give me a better head start when I
do teach. I can improve this assignment after I have learned more about what goes
into a lesson plan and what I should expect the outcomes to be. Right now, I can only
make a guess as to how it will be produced in a classroom setting.
