Multiplication & Division Dividing Decimals by Whole Numbers

I.

When dividing a decimal by a whole number, we first set up the problem


using long division, as if we were dividing two whole numbers. For
example, 4.8 6 can be set up as if the problem were 48 6, as shown below.

Since 6 doesn't divide into 4, we divide 6 into 48. 6 divides into 48 exactly
8 times so we write an 8 in our answer above the 8.

As our last step, we bring the decimal point up from the original number
to the same position in the answer. So, for the problem we're working on,
we bring the decimal point from 4.8 up to the same position in our answer, to
give us 0.8, as shown below. So 4.8 6 is 0.8.
