Activity

Procedure

Aims/Objec
tives

Aim: To create a positive learning environment for Ss.

Procedure: T. welcomes Ss. to class and asks them questions about their
day. T. then reminds Ss. of the previous lesson and also covers current
objectives.
Aim: To refresh in the minds of students the vocabulary learnt from last class
as well as to reactivate their schema
Procedure: T. writes vocabulary words from last lesson on the board. T.
divides the Ss. into two teams. Each team sends a representative to sit in the
chairs at the front of the class. T. reads vocabulary definitions out and then
the Ss. race to slap the right vocabulary word with a flyswatter. The team
with the most correct slaps wins.
Aim: To give Ss practice with reading for detail.
Procedure: T. splits Ss. into groups of 2 or 3. Half of the groups will be A
groups and half will be B groups. T. gives each set of groups question sheets
with questions pertaining to their reading and has them review the
questions. T. has A groups read paragraphs 1 3 while B groups read
paragraphs 4 -7 and has both groups answer their questions. T. then creates
new groups with Ss. from both sets and has each group read their questions
and then explain their answers to each other.
Aim: To relate vocabulary and text to Ss. real life.
Procedure: T. writes the following questions of the board.
1) Do you think that Frank was successful? Why or why not?
2) What do you like or dislike about him? Why or why not?
T. splits Ss. into groups of 3 or 4 and has each S. in the groups give their
opinion in discussion.
