Overall Goal of Lesson: Help students understand they must recognize the numbers and

notes in between patterns to understand them.


Instructional Objectives: We will find solutions to problems involving patterns. We will
focus on identifying patterns.

Students will create a rhythm pattern on www.creatingmusic.com and play their patter for the class.
Students will also solve numerous problems of replacing the missing number on a
pattern with different objects like candy and fruit.

Teacher Input/Lesson Activity: I will discuss different way to approach patterns

and teach the children a catchy hook to remember how to solve the problems.
Modeling: I will do an example of some problems and break them down

therefore the students will see an example of braking down the patterns.
Guided Practice: students will create their own pattern of 3s in groups of 2s

while using all the M&MS in every bag.


Independent Practice: Students will create their own rhyme pattern with
creatingmusic.com
Lesson Closure: Students will play their rhyme pattern they created live in the
classroom to the teacher and their peers
