1. Figure 1 on the following page shows incomplete SVAJ diagrams of a constant velocity cam with the following specifications: + Interval 1: Maintain constant velocity at 18 mm/s when: 0<0.< en ‘ " S 21 + Interval 2: Return the follower to its initial position when: -" <@ < 2x. + Cam @ = 2m rad/s ‘The s, v, a and j functions for Interval 1 have already been derived for you. The functions and their diagrams are shown in Figure 1. (a) Using your own words, explain why is it WRONG to use the function y mm/s for Interval 1 of the V diagram? (b) What is the value of B (in radians) for Interval 2? (©) Using CYCLOIDAL DISPLACEMENT functions, derive the s and v functions for Interval 2. The a function for Interval 2 has already been derived as shown in Figure 1. The boundary conditions for Interval 2 required to solve for the constants of integration have also been derived for you and are shown in Figure 1. Please use the boundary conditions that have been given in the figure! (d) What is the value of C in the expression a = (©) Derive the j function for Interval 2. Note: You are NOT required to draw the SVAJ diagrams. Just derive the functions. You also do NOT have to check for negative displacements.
