SAMPLE LESSON PLAN

10 min

Lesson instruction and presentation and explain how the two


digit numbers represent 10s and ones. The teacher will use
prezi to show the different numbers and how they change
throughout the powerpoint.

20 min

The Lesson Structure: Activities

Give students a stack of number cards. Have students turn the


cards face down and pull one number card at a time. After
they pull a card, each person builds the number they see using
math manipulatives as fast as they can. Circulate to correct
student misunderstandings and provide support. As an
extension students can write each number and draw a
representation of how they built it. (i.e. write 42 and draw 4
stacks of 10 cheerios and 2 single cheerios).
Closing/Assessment

After students have completed this task, bring them back


together as a group and discuss what they have learned. Ask
questions:
What did they learn about numbers?
What was the easiest way for them to see each number?
Homework

The homework will be on Edmodo, parents and students will


need to work together and figure out the homework numbers
put on Edmodo.
