A concussion occurs when your head forcefully hits (or gets hit by) something and your brain

strikes the side of your skull. When your head is moving fast and then suddenly stops, your
brain wants to keep moving hence Newtons law of inertia. Some signs that someone has a
concussion include headache, confusion, feeling irritable, etc.

In 2011, 677 cyclists were killed and 48,000 cyclists had injuries from crashes with
vehicles.
16% (around 8,000) of the people injured were 14 or younger
80% of accidents happen in the day
Almost 75% of all fatal bike crashes involve head injuries and 17% of those
fatally injured were wearing helmets
In 2009 it was estimated that 9 in 10 bicyclists killed were not wearing
helmets.
Despite all these facts that prove helmets decrease (but do not eliminate) the chance of
a head injury, 20-25% of all bikers wear helmets. Use your head and wear a helmet.
