What is Global Consciousness?

Global consciousness is the ability to understand what
is going on in the world and to understand the
diversity that the world has to offer. For example,
how students empathize with people with lower
standards of living.

The Problem
Many kids dont know the diversity in their own country, let alone
this whole world. We need to change that. We need to expose kids
to the outside world. Kids should know more world events because it
can affect them directly. For example, a deep recession in Canada
could cause a major decrease or increase in prices here in the
United States since Canada is one of the trading partners of the
United States. Kids will also get many advantages because they can
try new foods, experience new sights, and learn how the way other
people live differ from how they live.

The Problem, continued

When kids learn about the
world, they learn it too late. In
our elementary school curriculum,
we only learn about our country
from K-4th. Only in 5th grade
do we learn about other
countries, but we only learn
about ancient civilizations.

Solution/Project
Travel through six of the seven
continents in a breathtakingly
realistic project. You have 20 days,
$15,000 and six plane rides to
complete one tourist attraction in
North America, South America,
Europe, Africa, Asia, Oceania.

Rules of Project
Only get 6 plane tickets
Have to start and end in your home town
Stay to your budget of $15,000
Do one tourist attraction in each
continent
For each tourist attraction you visit make
video blog (vlog)
Must visit at least 5 countries you hadnt
learned about before

Plane (6)
Bus (unlimited)
Train/Subway (unlimited)
Taxi (80km)
Walking (unlimited)
Bike (unlimited)
Ferries/Boats (5)
Other (examples: Horse, Segway etc.)
