MEDIA ADVISORY
CHARLESTON, W.V. Senate President Jeff Kessler (D-Marshall) and Senator Art
Kirkendoll (D-Logan) announced today that the final meeting of the SCORE Task Force will
meet next week in Logan County. SCORE, Southern Coalfields Organizing and Revitalizing the
Economy, is an initiative aimed to give southern West Virginia much-needed opportunities to
diversify the economy and strengthen our families and communities.
Senate President Kessler says the listening tours have been beneficial and he is looking forward
to hearing from the people of Logan County.
Each meeting has provided us with a little different perspective regarding local issues, says
Kessler. The goal for the task force was to enable the region to assess its current challenges,
gather ideas already underway addressing those challenges and then take this information and
propose bi-partisan legislation during the 2015 legislative session.
Senator Kirkendoll, Co-Chairman of the Task Force, says he is happy to host the final SCORE
Task Force meeting in his district.
I applaud the efforts of my colleagues who have continued with these very important meetings,
says Kirkendoll. Im proud to be finishing up what we started back in October in my district.
The forum is free and the public is encouraged to attend.
