ITSELF ON EMORY & HENRY COLLEGE CAMPUS. E&H BROADCASTING STUDENT NORA DAVIS REPORTS After almost fifty years of inactivity, two students re-founded a dead literary society only two weeks ago. It is the oldest society in E&H history and was originally founded by the first student president. The Calliopean Literary Society established itself October 20 through Student Government. Currently there are eleven members.

Chase Crickenburger Society President
This is where the Calliopean Literary
Society meets every Wednesday to practice public speaking and debate. Secretary, Jenna Lottman, records the minutes on an authentic typewriter for every meeting. Lottman felt the old charm will work with the values of the society. President of the society, Chase Crickenburger, is enthusiastic about his position and the group. I decided to join because I really love debate, I love the art of debate, and I love the art of public speaking and I think the Calliopean and Hermesian societies both provide an opportunity for a healthier rivalry between the two academic societies which is something we currently dont have on campus and I really wanted to be a part of something bigger than myself. I thought this was a great opportunity.
Next week the society will discuss the
United States intervention with the Middle East and will debate against the Hermersian Society. SOC
