My name is Jocelyn Hernandez, I am eighteen years old and am currently a freshman in California State

University, Northridge. I was born in Glendale, California and moved to the San Fernando Valley at the
age of ten. I took honors classes in the second year of junior high and finished once I graduated high
school. I graduated with an honor roll and am now pursuing my dream of becoming a veterinarian. The
affection I have for animals is unquestionably reciprocated. The process in which they show me affection
is undeniable. Whether it is a cat negotiating figure eights while rubbing against my legs to get
attention, or a dog ecstatically wagging its tail in acknowledgement of my presence, the message is
clear, they care. I lived with eight people in my homes which includes my parents, brother, aunt, uncle
and both of their girls. I also own five pets, three dogs and two cats. Once graduating from CSUN I wish
to apply to a veterinary school and graduated at the age of 25, I then wish to take my residency so I will
be able to have my own business. I have many years to go until I accomplish my dream and I am ready
for the challenges that occur in my way and make the best of out my life.
