He was taken to Brazil. It took his father, David Goldman 6 horrible years to get his son back. This act was to bring more awareness and provide more help to the families who are going threw this terrible situation. Christopher Smith who belonged to the Republican Party introduced this legislation. This legislation went to Committee on October 10, 2013. This legislation went to The House Foreign Affairs and Senate Foreign Relations. There were 25 Republicans and 21 Democrats in the committee. This legislation passed the house on December 11, 2013. -225 Republicans and 173 Democrats voted for this legislation. -6 Republicans and 27 Democrats did not vote. The legislation passed Senate on July 16, 2014. Since the votes were by voice no records were kept of each individuals votes. This legislation passed the house on July 25.2014. Since they all agreed to the changes there was no record of the votes individually. The president signed this legislation on August 8,2014.
