Fun fact about the word witch

comes from the Old English wicce,
meaning wise woman. In fact,
wiccans were highly respected
people at one time. According to
popular belief, witches held one of
their two main meetings, or sabbats,
on Halloween night.
Happy Halloween!!

The Wesleyan College Model UN team will be

traveling to Atlanta in November for the Southern
Regional Model UN conference. Eight student
delegates will represent Denmark on a variety of
committees, including the General Assembly,
UNICEF, UNHCR, and the Peace Building
Commission. Students have been learning about
Denmark with the help of the Honorable Consul of
the Kingdom of Denmark to the United States,
Christopher Smith. Students attending SRMUN
include veterans Charline van der Beek, Ojawashi
Pathak, Shamila Sarwar, and Hoa Nguyen, as well
as Wesleyan MUN newcomers Katlynn Cross,
Brittany Pye and first year Krissy Dennard.

Is Saturday, October 18, 2014 and is a great opportunity to

volunteer and get an All-Campus Convocation.
The Lane Center, which hosts WOW-A-Day, has gone through
some changes to make it more accessible to the students. One of
those changes includes the selection of Ms. Jill Amos as the new
Director of the Lane Center for Service and Leadership,
formerly the Lane Center for Community Engagement and
Service. Ms. Amos is a 1987 graduate of Wesleyan College with
majors in psychology, social services, and religious studies. The
other change is that the Lane Center is now located on the
ground floor of OSP, in the former Print Shop, and you can find
Ms. Amos in her office located around the corner.
A round of applause to the Lane Center Student Leadership
Team comprised of TJ Ridley, Shelby Rivers, and Brooke Bosley,
whose leadership skills kept the Lane Center running during
the period of transition, with the support of volunteers, tutors,
and Servant Leaders.
